LUPARA
The Lupara is a type of firearm, consisting of a shotgun with two side-by-side smooth barrels that have been sawed off for ease of use in vegetation and to be concealed under a coat in urban settings.
It is one of the oldest firearms used in Sicily .
The ammunition is usually cartridge 12 gauge or 16 gauge. The name "lupara," the Italian, is that this weapon was often used to hunt the wolf .
It was known for its use in blood vengeance by the Cosa Nostra (the Sicilian mafia) and against the armies of Mussolini during World War II .
We speak of Lupara bianca when the victim's body is not found.
Usually, killing a person with a lupara means that the latter has betrayed his family (that is, his Mafia "clan").
